South Corvallis neighbors and community members are invited to learn about the plans for the new Lincoln Elementary School that will replace the existing building at a Community Information Night on Tuesday, August 13 at 6 pm in the school library.
A Design Advisory Committee, comprised of Lincoln parents, staff, and neighbors, was formed last winter and will complete their work this fall. Construction on the new school is planned to begin in June 2020.
The existing school will be operational while the new school is under construction. District representatives and the architect design team will present highlights of the current plan.
The new building will be located on the south side of the school campus. Primary grades will be located on the first floor, the library, learning resource center and grade 2-5 classrooms will be upstairs. The current site concept includes a parking and bus drop-off area adjacent to 99W and a private drive on the east side of the site for parent driver drop-off (only). This will require the relocation of the tennis courts.
The Corvallis School District developed a set of Sustainable Design Guidelines to ensure that our new facilities optimize building performance to provide a safe, healthy, and comfortable place for students to learn and thrive while minimizing environmental impact. These guidelines align with the District’s recently published Sustainability Management Plan available on the district website. The new Lincoln Elementary School will be designed and constructed following the Energy Trust of Oregon’s Path to Net Zero.
Community engagement is an important part of our design process. Please share this invite with your friends and neighbors who are interested in this south Corvallis project! Questions may be directed to the Facilities and Transportation office at 541-757-4487.
