The Oregon Association of School Executives (OASE) and the Coalition of Oregon School Administrators (COSA) have selected Dr. Ryan Noss, Corvallis School District, 2024-25 Superintendent of the Year. This distinguished recognition celebrates exceptional leadership and commitment to educational excellence. Dr. Noss is now in the running for the National Superintendent of the Year through the American Association of School Administrators (AASA).
Dr. Noss, who is beginning his ninth year as the Superintendent of Corvallis School District, has a remarkable track record of advancing educational opportunities and fostering a supportive environment for students. His journey in education began as a special education teacher, and since then, he has consistently demonstrated an unwavering dedication to meeting the diverse needs of students.
Dr. Noss was nominated by his Executive Team for his commitment to improving outcomes for students and for his deep involvement in the community. Notably, Dr. Noss steered the passage of a capital construction bond in 2018, bringing updated elementary school buildings and modernized CTE opportunities for secondary school students. In 2019, he championed the creation of a school-based mental health program, which proved crucial in navigating the pandemic. This program, initially small, has grown significantly, now supporting students across all grade levels and providing essential mental health services during a challenging time. Dr. Noss’s hands-on involvement in the design and oversight of these projects underscores his commitment to improving educational spaces and opportunities for students.
A strong advocate for community engagement, Dr. Noss regularly collaborates with local community partners such as Corvallis Public Schools Foundation and the City of Corvallis. These partnerships result in significant support for students and families, most recently through summer learning programs. Dr. Noss’s influence extends beyond Corvallis, as he actively participates in state and national education advocacy. His work with the OASE Executive Committee and the AASA Governing Board highlights his dedication to securing adequate funding and resources for schools across the country.
