Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in industrial engineering with a focus on Human Systems Engineering (Human Factors Engineering) and an integrated minor that included topics in business administration, organizational management, and emergency/disaster management. Dissertation title: Protective Action Decision Making in Large-Scale Emergencies: The Role of Information Requirements and Job Aids in Community-Level Decision Making.

Career Experience:
Project Manager and Consultant in the tech industry, engineering instructor at Oregon State University teaching lower and upper-class courses on Engineering economics, project management, work systems engineering, engineering computing, and problem-solving and engineering design.
Co-founder at Crispy Science, Projects Engineer at General Electric, and instructor for IE 366 (Work Systems Engineering), ENGR 391 (Engineering Economics and Project Management), and ENGR 112 (Introduction to Engineering Computing) courses at Oregon State University.

Served on the advisory board of the OSU Memorial Union and served in the ASOSU Senate and ASOSU House of Representatives as the graduate representative. Also, Sami has been the Humans of Corvallis photographer since June 2014.
Family
Sami’s family lives across two continents. His mother, Hiba, is a recently immigrated Syrian refugee who is living in Canada. His father, Ahmad, and two younger brothers, Daniel and Ali, live in Saudi Arabia.
Hobbies and Special Interests
Dancing (mainly Cuban salsa), playing chess, gardening, camping, climbing, hiking Oregon trails, and writing.
