Martha Calderon

Martha has worked in mental healthcare for 10 years and has been with the MH&W program for 2 years. She has been in education for 20 years.

Martha’s clinical approach is person-centered, which means she believes that actions and reactions are motivated by tendencies to reach our utmost potential; either mentally, physically, spiritually, or emotionally. Martha’s work with individual and family counseling is rooted in Narrative, Attachment, Cognitive Behavioral, Dialectical Behavioral, Motivational Interviewing and Solutions Focused theories.

Martha has an affinity for working with marginalized and disenfranchised communities. She has and continues to be dedicated to social justice and works to dismantle Anti-oppression practices. She spends her time outside of the district working alongside grassroots communities and trains on mental health and racial equity throughout Oregon. She brings this perspective to both her direct work with clients as well as her leadership in the Mental Health & Wellness Team.

Martha values this work because she believes in the goodness and strength of people. “Life has many challenges, but it is also full of incredible connections, relationships, and moments of joy. I love what I do and I feel honored that people share their stories and allow me into their journey.”

Eric Blinckestaff

Eric has worked in mental healthcare for nineteen years and has seventeen years working in schools in various capacities; Education Assistant, In-Home and In-School Social Worker, Child and Family Therapist and Behavior Consultant. Eric is excited to be working for the Corvallis School District again as he started his career as an Educational Assistant in a Day-Treatment Program, then worked five years supporting elementary schools.

Eric enjoys spending time with his family, friends, hiking, rafting and playing basketball.

Rebecca Demarest

Rebecca has worked in mental healthcare for 8 years. Rebecca brings a trauma-informed, strengths-based, and social-ecological lens to her work with clients and their families. She believes that children are doing the best they can with the tools available to them and she draws on cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, narrative therapy, and play therapy to support her clients in fostering their self-worth and motivation.

Rebecca enjoys camping, yoga, cooking, reading, and napping with her cats.

Rebecca loves her work because she gets to witness strength, determination, creativity, and joy on a daily basis.

Summer Garibay

Mental Health Therapist

Summer has worked in mental healthcare for 7 years and with the MH&W program for 3. Summer believes that kids do well when they can. She utilizes a variety of child accessible therapeutic techniques in order to best support youth getting their mental health needs met in a way that feels accessible to them. Summer connects with families and provides family therapy, through a process in which all are heard, honored, and valued as valuable members of our community.

Summer enjoys camping, hiking, kayaking

Summer values this work because it affords me the opportunity to see growth and development happen firsthand. It's important for her to see the best in individuals and work to advocate for social justice and equality within our school system and affect change from an individual to a systemic level.

Yi-Lin Hung

Yi-Lin has worked in mental healthcare for 4 years and with the MH&W program for 2. Yi-Lin believes that lives impact lives; when clients willingly step into the therapy room, the change has already started. It’s always important to her to build a strong rapport with my clients and ensure she can provide a safe and nurturing container for their most vulnerable parts.

Yi-Lin loves to travel and hike. She also likes cooking, baking as well as watching television - especially Korean-dramas.

Yi-Lin loves her work because it is her passion and calling to support others who are in need. She advocates for the importance of mental health equal to physical health.

Sara James

Mental Health Therapist

Sara has worked in mental healthcare for 13 years and with the MH&W program for 3. Sara believes each child and family bring in their own history, current distress, experience and strengths. She uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectic Behavioral Therapy, Play Therapy and Motivational Interviewing to facilitate the rebuilding of sense of self, self-worth, shifting patterns and creating new, healthy ways of thinking.

Sara enjoys gardening, reading and being a mom.

Sara loves her work because it allows her to work with students, families and community members which is a rewarding experience. She enjoys the opportunity to spread awareness and to destigmatize mental health.

Liz Sheridan

Mental Health Therapist

Liz has worked in mental healthcare for 12 years and with the MH&W program for 3. Liz’s therapy is strengths based, trauma informed, and client-centered. Liz believes psychoeducation is a powerful tool used to empower individuals and families. She works with families and school staff to support their understanding of child development and mental health so students can feel belonging and acceptance.

Liz enjoys outdoor activities, arts and crafts, live music.

Liz loves her work because the connection to students and families that centers her. She believe in prevention and interventions that support the whole child and support their strengths so they can do their personal best regardless of past, current, or future circumstances.

Lise Verhoogen Odden

Lise has worked in mental healthcare for 23 years and with the MH&W program for 2. Lise’s approach to treatment is person-centered and integrative. That means that she focuses on helping students cultivate their strengths and find more effective ways to cope with challenges. Lise thinks that it is when we feel safe, understood, and valued that we are able to take the risks that can lead to real positive changes; so she strives to create a counseling environment where clients feel both nurtured and challenged.

Lise enjoys trying new recipes, hiking, and reading good novels

Lise loves her work because she feels really honored when clients trust me enough to share their stories with her and allow her to offer real support. It is genuinely fulfilling to see clients begin to feel more hopeful about the future and more able to cope with the challenges that they are facing now. Lise is really grateful to have the job with the mental health & wellness program.
