Mask or No Mask – We Respect Your Decision

As a reminder to all students and families, staff and students can choose whether they wear a mask or not. Families should make this decision based upon their student’s individual risk assessment.

The Corvallis School District supports and respects all decisions equally. We are in this as a community. Thank you for your help in respecting and supporting each others’ decisions!

How We Will Communicate about COVID

We are pleased to see a steady decline in COVID-19 cases in our buildings. Because of this, we have changed how we communicate about COVID-19. We want to reduce the amount of notifications our families receive while remaining transparent about the impacts of COVID-19 in our schools.

Returning to Classroom Notifications for All Schools

Families will receive a ParentSquare notification if a COVID-positive individual was present in their student’s classroom. This will be our notification process for all schools. Middle and high school families will no longer receive a daily message with the total number of reported cases for their school.

Additionally, middle and high school families will see a short message at the bottom of their school’s weekly ParentSquare newsletters. This short message will include the total number of reported cases in the school, including those who were not in the building during their contagious period. Because middle and high school students move more freely throughout the building during the school day, we want to continue to communicate the impacts of COVID-19 in our secondary schools without overwhelming parents/guardians with daily COVID-19 notifications.

Communications Moving Forward

We adapted how we communicate about COVID-19 during the Omicron surge and will keep some of the processes we learned along the way. The COVID-19 dashboard will continue to be updated daily, because it has been a valuable resource for our families and community. As a reminder, the dashboard reflects ALL staff and students who have tested positive for COVID-19, not only those who were in a building during their contagious period. Daily, weekly, and cumulative case counts can be found on the district website’s dashboard here.

Just as we had adapted how we communicate about COVID-19 during the Omicron surge, we will change our notification process again if we experience another surge. To remain transparent and responsive, we will notify families if we need to shift how we communicate about COVID-19.

Como recordatorio para todos los estudiantes y sus familias, el personal y los estudiantes pueden elegir usar una mascarilla o no. Las familias deben tomar esta decisión en función de su evaluación individual de riesgo.

Cómo serán las comunicaciones respecto a COVID

Nos complace ver una disminución constante en los casos de COVID-19 en nuestros edificios. Debido a esto, cambiaremos la forma en que comunicamos respecto a COVID-19. Queremos reducir la cantidad de notificaciones que reciben nuestras familias sin dejar de ser transparentes sobre los impactos de COVID-19 en nuestras escuelas.

Regreso de las notificaciones del aula para todas las escuelas

Las familias recibirán una notificación de ParentSquare si una persona positiva a COVID estuvo presente en el salón de clases de su estudiante. Este será nuestro proceso de notificación para todas las escuelas. Las familias de secundaria y preparatoria ya no recibirán un mensaje diario con el número total de casos reportados para su escuela.

Además, las familias de las escuelas secundarias y preparatorias verán un breve mensaje en la parte inferior de los boletines semanales de ParentSquare de su escuela. Este breve mensaje incluirá el número total de casos reportados en la escuela, incluidos aquellos que no estuvieron en el edificio durante su período de contagio. Debido a que los estudiantes de secundaria y preparatoria se mueven más libremente por el edificio durante el día escolar, queremos continuar comunicando los impactos de COVID-19 en nuestras escuelas secundarias y preparatorias sin abrumar a los padres/tutores con notificaciones diarias de COVID-19.

Como recordatorio, el tablero refleja TODO el personal y los estudiantes que dieron positivo a COVID-19, no solo aquellos que estaban en un edificio durante su período de contagio. El conteo de casos diarios, semanales, y acumulativos se pueden encontrar en el tablero de la página web del distrito aquí.

Así como adaptamos la forma en que nos comunicamos sobre el COVID-19 durante la oleada de Omicron, cambiaremos nuestro proceso de notificación nuevamente si experimentamos otra oleada. Para seguir siendo transparentes y receptivos, notificaremos a las familias si necesitamos cambiar la forma en que nos comunicamos respecto a COVID-19.
