Fully On-Site Class Schedules to Begin May 3

Fully On-Site Class Schedules to Begin May 3rd

We have been reviewing new ODE guidance and working with our employee associations to create a schedule and plan to resume on-site teaching and learning for all students. We are happy to share that an on-site, four day per week schedule will go into effect for all grades in the Corvallis School District on May 3. There will continue to be a Cohort C remote learning option.

Schedule changes for the week of April 26 will be made at the school level and shared with staff and families next week.

The primary factors allowing us to return all students on-site, four days per week, include:

• The new ODE guidance that reduces the required physical distance from six feet to three feet between students in classrooms.
• We also are aware that vaccinations in Benton County are proceeding ahead of schedule. Starting April 19, anyone 16 years of age or older is eligible to receive the vaccine.

As with every decision we have faced throughout the pandemic this schedule includes considerations for health and safety, and accounts for the diverse needs of the 6,700 students we serve. This schedule is inclusive of students that are able to return for on-site learning and those who need to continue to learn from home. It also maintains the academic relationship between students and the teacher(s) they have been learning with throughout the school year. This schedule also takes into consideration the role transportation plays in getting our students to and from school and the requirements to maintain additional space between students during recess or when eating at school.

Daily on-site schedules vary between elementary and secondary schools due to student transportation coordination requirements.

All staff and students will be expected to follow the safety protocols in the district’s Operational Blueprint.

Families who wish to keep their children in a fully remote option will be able to continue in Cohort C. This will also be available to students in the event that quarantining becomes necessary. We are committed to maintaining the connection between these students and their teacher.

Corvallis Online will continue for the remainder of the school year and is not the same as Cohort C. Corvallis Online will be available as a remote learning option for students next fall. Details will be shared later this spring.

We are excited to finish the year with all students on-site and in classrooms as we conclude this school year and plan for the year ahead.

Horarios de clases totalmente presenciales iniciarán el 3 de mayo

Como lo compartí la semana pasada, hemos estado revisando la nueva guía de ODE y trabajando con nuestras asociaciones de empleados para crear un cronograma y un plan para reanudar la enseñanza y el aprendizaje en persona para todos los estudiantes. Me complace compartir que el 3 de mayo entrará en vigencia un horario presencial de cuatro días a la semana para todos los grados en el Distrito Escolar de Corvallis. Seguirá habiendo una opción de aprendizaje remoto Cohorte C.

Los cambios de horario para la semana del 26 de abril se harán en cada escuela y se compartirán con el personal y las familias la próxima semana.

Los factores principales que nos permiten regresar al aprendizaje en persona, cuatro días a la semana, incluyen:

• La nueva guía ODE que reduce la distancia física requerida de seis pies a tres pies entre los estudiantes en las aulas.
• También somos conscientes de que las vacunas en el condado de Benton están avanzando antes de lo previsto. A partir del 19 de abril, cualquier persona de 16 años o más es elegible para recibir la vacuna.

Las familias que deseen mantener a sus hijos en una opción completamente remota podrán continuar en la Cohorte C. Esto también estará disponible para los estudiantes en caso de que sea necesario poner en cuarentena. Estamos comprometidos a mantener la conexión entre estos estudiantes y su maestro.
Corvallis Online continuará durante el resto del año escolar y no es lo mismo que la Cohorte C. Corvallis Online estará disponible como una opción de aprendizaje remoto para los estudiantes el próximo otoño. Los detalles se compartirán más adelante esta primavera.
