This year 44 Corvallis School District middle and high school students were recognized with the Presidential Volunteer Service Award. Students tracked and documented their community and school volunteer hours over a 12-month period to qualify. Award recipients included two students from Franklin K-8, eight students from Cheldelin Middle School, eight students from Crescent Valley High School and 26 students from Corvallis High School.
Volunteer hours for the award are designated based on cumulative hours. The awards are offered in multiple levels and are designed to recognize each milestone of service achievement. Levels include bronze, silver, and gold. School coordinators provide the district coordinator with a list of students and their hours which are then reviewed, approved and submitted. Students receive the award at their end of year school award ceremonies. Along with the honor of presidential recognition, recipients receive a personalized certificate, an official pin, and a congratulatory letter from the president of the United States.
