Our kindergarten classrooms provide a combination of learning and play to help your child grow emotionally, socially, and academically. We can’t wait to welcome your kinder to school!
Below you will find general information about enrolling your child in kindergarten.
All K-5 elementary schools will offer a kindergarten information night on Tuesday, March 18, from 6:00 – 7:00 pm.
These information nights are for incoming kindergarten families to visit their neighborhood school. During the school information night, school staff will discuss what life as a kindergarten student looks like and answer questions.
If you are uncertain about which elementary school is your neighborhood school, you can check any address to see what boundary area it is located in using the district address locator or by calling 541-757-5811.
Oregon state law requires immunizations for enrollment in the Corvallis School District and must be documented. Your student may not begin school without documentation that they meet the requirements. Required immunizations are:
Immunizations are available through private physicians, clinics, and the Benton County Health Department (541-766-6812) in Corvallis.
Children must be 5 years old on or before September 1 to enroll in Kindergarten. However, we do allow early entrance for children who turn 5 between September 2 and September 15. No early entrance will be granted beyond September 15. Enrollment for early entrance is subject to space availability. We encourage families to consider their child’s readiness when making this decision.
We use an online enrollment system. To complete the enrollment process, you will be asked to provide:
If you are unable to provide these documents, please call the school office for assistance. After completing the online enrollment, the school will contact you to complete the process.

If you are hoping to have your child attend a school outside of their boundary, you will need to enroll in your home boundary school first before applying for a transfer. Learn more about student transfers here.
Our schools operate under a “closed campus” policy. This policy requires that whenever students leave the building or grounds (for example, when families need to take children out of school for appointments or due to illness) families must sign their child out at the school office.
Additionally, families and visitors entering the school building for any reason must sign in at the office and obtain a visitor badge to wear for the remainder of their stay.
Supervision for students begins at the start of the school day and includes bus rides. Please continually remind your child of the basic safety rules. If your child walks to school, we encourage you to walk with your child to and from school.
We also strongly encourage families to personally supervise their children at the bus stop until the bus arrives. A note from home is required when there is a change in a child’s bus riding or walking routine.
Safety is a partnership between schools, students, and families. If at any time you feel there is an unsafe situation at any school, please contact your school front office.
If your child is injured or becomes ill at school, every effort will be made to contact you. Please keep both your contact information and emergency contact (other responsible adults to call in case you are not available) information up to date. To update information, contact the school office.
A sick child needs to be at home to protect that child and prevent exposure to other students. A child with a fever greater than 100ºF may return when their temperature decreases without the use of a fever-reducing medicine.
If your child has a health condition that needs to have special consideration, please contact the school prior to the first day of attendance.
If your child needs medication during school hours, please bring that medication in the original container and check it in with the school secretary. For safety reasons, it is critical that you transport the medication and complete the necessary forms at the school.
Prescription and non-prescription medication must be in the original container. When requested, pharmacists are usually willing to provide two labeled containers, one each for home and school.
You are your child’s first teacher and there are many things you can do to give your child a successful start to kindergarten. Most entering kindergartners have developed some skills in the four areas listed below. Your child’s development may be a little faster or a little slower in certain areas. Have patience, trust your judgment, and don’t be overly critical. If you spend time with your child and have fun, the rest will follow!
The following schools have an after school program partnership with the Boys and Girls Club of Corvallis.

Our schools and teachers are skilled at helping students acquire a second or even a third language. We will work with your child regardless of the language spoken at home to help them excel in school.
A helpful beginning is to expose your child to simple songs, rhymes, and counting in English and Spanish.
Our dual immersion teachers will give you strategies to help your child, even if you don’t fully understand the language. There is minimal homework at the elementary level.
When you register your child, please list people who you approve to pick them up from school. To modify that list, please call the school office.
